We're located in the heart of downtown Monterey. You'll be a quick walk to restaurants, bars and local attractions. Due to the historic nature and location in the bustling downtown, you might experience occasional street noise.
Yes! We welcome all well-mannered dogs. No other types of pets are allowed. There is a non-refundable fee of $25 per pet, per night.
These accommodations must be reserved in advance by calling our reservations department directly at 800-966-6490. Please note that we do not take pet reservations online.
We do not have AC due to our building’s historic nature, but we’re happy to provide fans.
Yes! For over a decade we did not have an operational elevator due to the historic nature of the original elevator and current State Regulatory laws relating to elevators. With the completion of our new wing, we also have a chair lift and ADA compliant rooms.
Our minimum check-in age is 18 years.

Please visit the Aquarium's website to learn more about their current hours and admission. The Aquarium is just over a mile away.
We occasionally have packages with the Aquarium which include a hotel room and a special deal price for Aquarium tickets. This offer is typically available year-round, except for our peak summer season. If the room package is unavailable during your stay, we still offer Aquarium tickets at the prices listed above, except our tickets are good for two consecutive days.
The beach is about one mile from The Monterey Hotel.
There are numerous attractions within walking distance of the Hotel. Old Fisherman's Wharf is just a few minutes away, offering restaurants, shops, and whale watching tours near the end of the pier. El Estero Park, commonly referred to as "Dennis the Menace Park," is a 10-15 minute walk from the Hotel, and is incredibly family friendly with its distinct playground, duck pond, and short trails. The Monterey County Youth Museum is nearby on Washington Street.
In addition, Cannery Row is about a 30-minute walk along the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail, which passes many wildlife viewing areas where otters and seals rest and play. Cannery Row has numerous restaurants, shops, and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. During the summer months (from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Weekend) there is a free trolley that goes to both Old Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row. Hours are 10am to 7pm on weekdays and 10am to 8pm on weekends. This trolley is available on weekends only during the off-season.
The Monterey Bay Peninsula has a tremendous number of attractions that we love to recommend to visitors. For those seeking the singular coastal beauty of our area, we recommend 17-Mile Drive through Pacific Grove and into Carmel-by-the-Sea, as well as many Big Sur State Parks and several local beaches. There are several tasting rooms close to Monterey, including Carmel Ridge Winery, Great American Wineries Inc., Taste of Monterey and Bargetto Winery of Cannery Row.
There are many local spas nearby, including Elysium, Massage Envy, and Peak Performance Massage. In addition, the lovely Refuge in Carmel Valley offers a variety of unique experiences, including saunas, hot and cold pools, and massages.
We invite you to enjoy our new Fitness Room. You can also enjoy walking or biking along the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail minutes from the Hotel. This much-loved trail wraps the coast, meandering through Cannery Row, up to Lover's Point, and near Asilomar State Beach. There is also the Monterey Bay Sports Center just two blocks away, offering a variety of different amenities including recreational classes, a pool, and different types of equipment.
Nearby theaters are Monterey 13 Century Cinemas at Del Monte Shopping Center, Oslo Cinemas, and Central Coast Cinemas in Paso Robles.

Cancel your stay more than 48 hours in advance of check-in time (3pm) on the day of your arrival, otherwise, you will be charged full payment for one night plus tax. Cancellation policies may differ for special event packages or group rates.
