We’re located in the heart of downtown Monterey. You’ll be a quick walk to restaurants, bars and local attractions. Due to the historic nature and location in the bustling downtown, you might experience occasional street noise.

Yes! We welcome all well-mannered dogs. No other types of pets are allowed. There is a non-refundable fee of $35 per pet, per night. These accommodations must be reserved in advance by calling our reservations department directly at 800-966-6490. Please note that we do not take pet reservations online.

We do not have AC due to our building’s historic nature, but we’re happy to provide fans.

Yes! For over a decade we did not have an operational elevator due to the historic nature of the original elevator and current state regulatory laws. With the completion of our new wing, we also have a chair lift and ADA-compliant rooms.

Our minimum check-in age is 18 years.

The beach is about one mile from The Monterey Hotel.

There are numerous attractions within walking distance of the hotel, including Old Fisherman’s Wharf, El Estero Park (Dennis the Menace Park), the Monterey County Youth Museum, and Cannery Row via the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail. During summer months there is a free trolley to Old Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row on weekends.

For coastal beauty, we recommend 17-Mile Drive, Big Sur State Parks, and several local beaches. Please see the front desk staff for more information.

There are several tasting rooms close to Monterey, including Carmel Ridge Winery, Great American Wineries Inc., Taste of Monterey, and Bargetto Winery on Cannery Row.

There are many local spas nearby, including Elysium, Massage Envy, Peak Performance Massage, and Refuge in Carmel Valley.

The hotel has a new fitness room, and guests can also walk or bike the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail or visit the Monterey Bay Sports Center two blocks away.

Nearby theaters include Monterey 13 Century Cinemas at Del Monte Shopping Center and Cinemark Century Marina and XD.
